And Graduation begins

Today I begin the graduation season. I will start prepping shirts for Ola’s quilt for her son who will be graduating high school this year. There will be a lot of combining logos in this one. But I know the blocks will be wonderful. It will be a full day of cutting, ironing and re-cutting for this 25 block Window Pane in Var. Blue and Yellow. Go…Omaha North!

Silky shirt quilt

I have been working on a quilt lately that is composed of silky button-up shirts and beaded vests. It has been quite the adventure just prepping the shirts. Each shirt is unique and really shows the personality of the previous wearer. I am excited to be able to feature each shirt as a work of art in this quilt for Cindy H, in memory of her brother.

16 block Standard in Black and blue – photos coming soon.

I Love to Repeat Myself

On Thursday, a great friend and repeat customer, Maria came by with her son. Maria, is a friend from my former life, you know the one, before loving my job making beautiful memories. For the last few years Maria stops by to give me the pleasure of making quilts for her graduating Girl Scouts and family members. So, it is a new year and a new visit from Maria. She helps start the year off right with 2 quilts for her sons. We got to work and laid out shirts for her son that came with her. He did all the moving and placed each shirt in just the right position.  He picked some great colors to compliment his shirt layout: Variegated Green and Variegated Black. Maria brought more shirts for her other son, too. This son sent directions for the colors he would like to use in his quilt. We could not lay out the shirts as he has more to send to his mom.

I was able to spend the rest of Thursday cutting all the’ shirts in preparation for sewing.

A World Traveling Quilt

On Monday I was excited to see my new customer Julie B. She came by to order a quilt for her sister. She took out 29 shirts from around the world. You see, Julie’s sister is a world traveler and for many years enjoyed meeting new and interesting people all around this great big planet.  It took some time to layout  the shirts in just the right order.  We still needed one more block to complete the look. Julie is going to drop off a photo to complete the look. You will be amazed when you see all the places she has seen. Until then…

New SnowBall quilt for Kelsey

Started on Sunday a new SnowBall quilt design. I was able to finish the top in the afternoon.  It looks really great. It is a 20 Block in Var. Yellow, Var. Grey and Black.

I hope to get it quilted before my meeting on Monday with Julie B. Can’t wait to start on her quilt.

Cayden’s quilt

I started prepping Cayden’s shirts today. Her uncle is having this quilt made for her for Christmas. She hasn’t decided on everything yet. I think Tye Dye will be involved.

So far: 12 Block Standard with Tye Dye.

Will keep you updated on the progress.
